Message from the President

This has been my first year serving as Unity of Bay City’s Board President and it has been a great honor for me.   As a community, we have faced many challenges this past year.  Many times I had to reflect and meditate on the many decisions that stood before me for our community, but through it all, I realized that I was not alone.  There were some really amazing people who stepped up to support me and guide me through.

At the beginning of the year, we had concerns about how we would continue to make the mortgage payment on our building.  I had no ideas about what to do.  I had never been in a situation where I have had to make a decision like this.  With the Mortgage Match program set up by Kevin Krupp, Board Treasurer, we were able to go above and beyond our monthly payments and even get ahead of them.  Our building is now in the green and we are looking at a more financially secure future here.

Then, we were without a minister.  What would happen without a minister?  Would we be able to continue as a community? Or would being without a minister be the end of our stability? Our events started by be centered on more fun, family-togetherness events, and the members of our community participated and felt a sense of belonging.  We began to connect and find laughter and fun once again.

When the Board appointed a Minister Search Team,  I knew I wasn’t alone.   Through their guidance and the help of Unity Worldwide Ministries,  the process of searching for a minister was made simple and easy.  Many stepped in to help with everything from planning speakers for the Sunday Celebrations to Hospitality, and events, and even with prayers and affirmations that the right minister was out there for us.  Taking one step at a time, we found a new minister who came at just the right time to love and nurture our community.

I would like to say, “Thank you” to each and every one of you who have supported me and our community through this past year.  It has, indeed, been a year of great changes, but we have all made it through and have come out on the other side strengthened with a greater bond of love.  I’m looking forward to what this next year has in store for all of us!
